It is unlawful for any person to ring, or cause to be rung the fire alarm bell, at any time other than in case of fire, or an alarm of fire, (except on public gala days and parade days of the department) or in any other manner to create a false alarm of fire. Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
