A. When the distance from any sign covered by this chapter to any street line is less than its greatest height above the ground, and in all cases where any such sign is erected on private property used or intended to be used by the public as sidewalk or street, it shall be made of metal or approved combustible materials or approved combustible plastics, and the supports shall be of steel.

B. For location other than those specified in this section, the poles or posts may be of wood which has been treated by the pressure process with preservative which will protect it from insect and fungus attack, or may be of redwood equal to, or better than, foundation grade.
