Any person who knowingly and wilfully violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months or by both such fine and imprisonment. Such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day during any portion of which a violation of this chapter is committed or continued by such person.
