For the purpose of regulating the various businesses, trades and callings carried on within the limits of the city and also for producing revenue to carry on the public functions of this city, the license tax for each such business, trade or calling is fixed as specified in this chapter, and it is unlawful to carry on such business in this city without paying such license tax.
