Roof signs and wall signs may not extend above the roofline, except that an appurtenant wall or roof sign facing the front of the building may extend above the roofline to a maximum height not greater than the maximum building height permitted without a use permit, in the zone wherein the wall or roof sign is to be located, as provided for in Chapter 17.16 of this code.
